Developer reveals 67 homes plan for Skipton

A SKIPTON based developer has revealed plans to build a further 67 new homes off the town’s Carleton Road.

Candelisa says the proposed development is the third and final phase of its Carleton Road scheme, and in addition to houses will include a new cycle track.

A new bridge is also proposed over Eller Beck, to take traffic away from Burnside Crescent and onto Carleton Road.

Guy Taylor, managing director, said: “This is the third and final phase of the Carleton Road scheme which on completion will provide over a hundred affordable and for sale homes and will help address the chronic shortage of housing in the area. As part of the application we are working closely with Craven District Council to incorporate features to benefit the local community. These include a new bridge over Eller Beck, taking traffic away from existing homes on Burnside Crescent and directly onto Carleton Road, and a new cycle track to meet the needs of the development and benefitting the wider population of Craven.”

The full planning application now lodged with the council, says the site is currently accessed from Burnside Crescent, next to where Candelisa has just completed two pairs of semi-detached homes.

It is not proposed to use the access, but by a permanent access over the new bridge over Eller Beck.

The 67 new proposed homes will feature one bedroom terraces, two and three bedroom semi- detached, and four and five bedroom detached homes.

Each new home will have its own parking space, and there will also be provision for visitor parking.

Also proposed is a new ‘meadow’ between the recently completed homes and the new development and a closed road cycle circuit track.

The 800metre track will be built to the south of the proposed development and will follow the contours of the existing landscape.

“It will have no detrimental effect to the existing flood regime and will provide a valuable amenity space for use by residents and the wider neighbourhood.”

Candelisa recently had plans to convert the former Green’s Mill at Station Works, Cononley, to 46 apartments, and build a further 46 new homes and industrial units at the site.
